Design wall 12/7/15 string quilt top finished

The top is finally done! Yea!! I just put a thin grey border and then a small black outer border to finish off the top. I do like it much better, now that it’s done and I can see the whole thing laid out.

Now I have to get back to my Kansas row by row quilt………we’re supposed to bring them to our January guild meeting……….I still fon’t have a clue as to what to do with the rows.? Oh well, ย it’s back on the design wall and maybe something will come to me this time.

That’s it for me this week. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 11/30/15 string quilt ready for borders

I spent yesterday afternoon getting the rest of the rows sewn together. Those cornerstones were a pain but worth it in the end, I think…..

The top has outgrown my design wall as it is measuring about 96″ square. It’s been raining for the last several days so I can’t lay it outside and get a picture, so I folded the top in half, took 2 photos and put them together. Unfortunately there is a white area going across the pic but you can pretty much see what the quilt looks like at this point.

Starting in the upper left corner, you’ll notice the white sashings and they change to grays across the quilt, finishing with the black. I’m not sure if I like it or not………maybe once the borders are on and I can lay it out and see the whole thing I’ll like it better. We’ll see. Good thing is that it used a lot of leftover strings of fabric!! ๐Ÿ‘

That’s it for me today. To see more walls visit http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 11/23/15 progress on the string blocks

I made some progress on the strings blocks this week. All the rows are made, now I have to piece the sashing strips to go in between the rows. I have the first one done and sewn onto the bottom of row 1.

I’ll be glad when this is done. It does brighten up the wall though.๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway, that’s my wall for this week, to see more walls go to http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 10/19/15 string blocks

I still have the Kansas row by row on the wall from last week. I have no idea what I’m going to do at this point, so I just look at it……..eventually something will strike me and I’ll work on it. Until then, I will continue to make string blocks. I need a total of (256) 5 1/2″ squares. So far I’ve made 107.

I need 140 more, so a few more days of working on them and I’ll be halfway done.๐Ÿ˜€ then I can start putting them together. I sure hope this quilt comes out like I want it to….๐Ÿ˜ณ

Design wall 10/12/15 Kansas row by row

Since my Kansas row by row quilt top is due before the blue and white row by row is, I decided to get it out and on the wall. I have no idea at this point as to what I will do with it. Hmmmmm…………..

I placed the rows in different places and finally decided that I like the rows best like this. Now I have to decide on sashings and borders.

I guess that’s it for now. Check out other walls at http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 9/28/15 Last 2 blue row by rows

I finally finished making the last rows for the blue and white row by row exchange. ๐Ÿ˜€ I am so glad they are done! Whew!!

I started out doing EPP and making these. With the plan of making 36……….

Well, that didn’t happen!! I stopped at 6 and changed my mind on what to make. I decided to do Dresden plate EPP instead. They were much easier and faster!!

I made rows for the other 5 ladies and did the exchange. This morning I finally finished my row. Yea!

I had to decided what to do with those 6 stars that I had made, so I decided that since one of the ladies made me some beautiful embroidered heart blocks to work into my row by row, I would make an extra row for her. I came up with a block that worked and added the stars. So, here’s what is hanging on my design wall today.

DONE!! Yea!!

Design wall 9/21/15 deer quilt top

I’m happy to say that the deer quilt top is finally finished and ready for quilting! Yea! It outgrew my design wall so I had to lay it outside in order to get the whole thing in the picture.

I’m glad I chose to make the ย delectable mountain blocks as a border. I was stumped on what to do in the actual corners as I didn’t want the blocks to just end. So in the four corner blocks. I added a small square to one corner. That keeps the design continuous all the way around, which is what I wanted.

I made a peiced backing out of several cream colored prints, so it’s ready to quilt as soon as I have time for it. ๐Ÿ˜€

My husband stopped at a yard sale yesterday and picked me up an ironing board. He was so proud of his $5.00 purchase!

The photo on the left is what it looked like when he brought home and the photo on the right is what it looks like now.

I played around and made a cover for it that covered the ironing board part and the top part too because they had glued some foam stuff and the cover onto the wood to hold it in place. I couldn’t get it all picked off. So I just covered it. ๐Ÿ˜ณ Anyway, that’s what I sewed on last night.

My next project needs to be finishing my row by rows.

ย We’ll see…….meanwhile, check out what others are up to at http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 1/26/15 fabric and block

There really isn’t anything exciting on my wall this week. I’m still trying to use up my stash so I found a beautiful floral print but only had one yard of it, so I cut it up and that’s what’s on my wall.

2015/01/img_0327.jpg
I’m going to frame the blocks and add a Sashing. It will look similar to the California quilt that I made last year but won’t be as big because I only had 1 yard of fabric. I don’t really care what size it ends up as it will just be a lap quilt and the fabric is so pretty I don’t want to cut it into small pieces.

I am also making progress on my Georgia block, I didn’t get it done in two weeks like I did Florida but it’s coming along.

Design wall Monday, 1/5/15 Mini, UFO and panel

Here it is the first Monday of the new year and I have no projects or at least any new projects on my wall. I do have a couple of quilts that I will be making soon but I still don’t have them cut out, so for now, on my wall is the panel which reminds me that I need to work on the blocks to go with it. Also on my wall is my first UFO finish for 2015. Yeah! In looking back I think I quilted this in 2012 and it’s been waiting for the binding ever since then, now it’s done. One down many more to go for the year.
Also on the wall is my storm at sea mini that I finished piecing last week and I put borders on it over the weekend so now it’s ready for quilting.

My goal in 2015 is to finish UFOs and continue to use my stash. I plan to give it my best shot. ๐Ÿ™‚

Miniature storm at sea

Since I haven’t cut out either one of the quilts I plan to make, I saw my miniature storm at sea and decided to sew a little bit on it. I found that I was further along than I remembered, so piecing the last 4 rows and then sewing all the rows together went pretty quick. Now I have to decide whether or not I want to put a little border on it. I think I will but I’ll have to find just the right batik for it.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/05b/1372895/files/2014/12/img_0108.jpg
It measures 15″ x 18″. I put my hand beside it to show that it’s small.
Now on to bigger things!! LOL!!
