UFO finished

I finished the binding on this quilt today, so I can mark it off my UFO list. Yea!!
That makes 3 UFO’s finished so far this year.

I made this quilt as a BOM at my LQS. I decided to do the red one since I don’t have any red quilts. After making this one I remembered why I don’t own any red quilts………….I really can’t stand the color red!!
I planned on doing some pretty custom quilting on it, but I didn’t want to waste any more time on something that I don’t like, So it got a quick panto design. I am sooo glad it’s done!

It always feels good to finish a quilt. 🙂
Even though I named this one Fugly! LOL!!

What’s on the machine 2/29

Shame on me. I’m falling behind on keeping up here. I can only show what’s on Viqtoria. (Millie has Sharon’s mystery lock in quilt for this year, so no peeking on it.)

Here’s what I took off earlier. It’s for a 13 year old.

That’s what I’m working on. What about you? Anything fun?

Have a good day!

My students work

My friend Barb was one of my students last week. I stopped by her house today so she could show me what she did after class.

When she got home after class, she had 2 small wall hangings that were ready to be quilted, so she decided to quilt feathers on them.

This one has a continuous feather going through the background, crossing the quilt diagonally.

On this one she freehanded the feathered wreath, filling the square, and then running a continuous feather across the quilt through the triangle blocks.

I think she did a great job!!

Now back to work for me.
Have a great day!

Feather class

Today was the first day for my feather class. I’ve had numerous quilters ask me about teaching a feather class, so I figured I could try. We had a 4 hour hands on class. I think everyone was pleased with all the knowledge they got from class. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t have enough for them to do for 4 hours, but wow the time flew by fast. They all seemed pleased with all the knowledge they learned. I think I’ll have to schedule more classes. 🙂
My first students.

Now I need to get back to my quilting.
Have a great day!

Wholecloth quilt

Here’s what I did today. If you’ve read some of my previous posts, you know that I absolutely LOVE quilting feathers.
So today I quilted feathers! 🙂

You may not think it’s all that cool, but I do…… I wasn’t sure how it was going to come out when I started quilting it. I think it took about an hour or so to quilt the whole thing. I did McTavishing behind the feathered hearts. Once again, I didn’t know how it would come out. I knew I didn’t want to rip any of the stitches out once I did them. I freehanded all of it. So I got what I got. As for the size of it…………….

Here it is……….

That’s it for now! Have a great day!

What’s on the machines? 2/8/12

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday. Time goes fast!! Anyway, here’s what I’m working on today.

Viqtoria is working away on this one.

I like using this circular design on quilts with lots of squares.

Meanwhile, over on Millie, I have a cute quilt with lots of appliqué.

Quilts like this always take me foreevvveeerrr, because I debate on what to do with each section. Ugh!
Ok, that’s it, back to work here…….

Have a good one!

Maxine quilt

Tonight is my guild meeting and we are giving away this Maxine quilt. I sure hope I win!!

I will also be showing my first finished UFO for the year. Yea!!! Each month we will have a prize for one person that shows a finished UFO. I wonder if I could be lucky enough to win both the quilt and the UFO prize???? Not with my luck!! But it’s always fun to dream!!

What’s on the machine Wednesday? 1/11/12

Since I am going to try to post more often. I thought I would share what’s on the machine on Wednesdays. This is what’s on Viqtoria, I shrunk the pantograph down to 5″ and I put it between the rows. I took part of the pantograph and am placing it between the blocks. It’s a sunflower pantograph and we thought since this is a Kansas quilt that would be great on it. After I finish that I will put it over on Millie to do the blocks.

I am still working on this one. It’s been on and off Millie numerous times so while I have a little time I am working more on it.

Ending the year busy

I’ve spent the whole day in my workroom! So far I’ve cut out a new quilt. Here’s the fabric I’m using for it.

I hope it looks good after I get it done. I’m writing the pattern for it as I work on it. That takes a lot more thinking! Step one is done so far, the cutting!! Now off to the next step……

I decided to put one of my UFO’s on Viqtoria. I finished 14 of my UFO’s in 2011. I’m so happy about that!! I hope to get lots more done in 2012. I figured I could start the new year off with one quilted. That’s one step closer to getting it off my UFO list.

I’m using a panto that’s quilting really fast. I’m not sure what the name is, it’s the first time I’ve used this pattern.

I have a custom job on Millie, I can’t show it.

I can show the quilt top that I finished a while back. LOL! I don’t think I ever posted a picture after I got all the borders done. Here it is…..

That’s it for now. Hopefully next year I will keep up with blogging a little more often. I seem to go in spurts! Oh well, have a safe and happy new year!
