My friend and I went to Carroll, Iowa last week and took a maintenance class at APQS. We enjoyed seeing all the quilt blocks that were on the barns. These were all located on 71 highway, between Carroll and the Missouri state line.
I love seeing these. We saw a few more but I couldn’t get the camera up fast enough. I wish I had a barn…..

These blocks have been on the wall for awhile. With everything else I’ve been doing, it got put on the back burner. It’s time now to get back to it. I’m working on the sashing pieces and here’s how it’s looking.
I do like it better with the dark color added into the sashing. The blocks alone were just too blah!!

Road trips mean time for handwork. 🙂
I haven’t worked on this for awhile. I had a bit of the flower section done. I was able to finish it and do quite a bit of the bird. I’ll be on the road again later this week, so maybe I can work on it again.

We had a great day yesterday at our annual mystery lock in. There were 58 ladies there sewing, chatting and eating!
Here is this years quilt. I named it “Summer Breeze”
Here’s Sharon’s quilt. She changed hers just a bit, by putting the dark around the center square.
We had lots of quilts shown that ladies made last year. Show and tell is always great!!

It’s done!! I finished the binding yesterday and we slept under it last night. This is the first time I’ve finished my lock in quilt BEFORE the lock in!! last year I was sewing down the binding while keeping it hidden from the ladies while they worked on theirs. My husband said he sure slept good under the new quilt! 🙂

I finished the binding on this quilt today, so I can mark it off my UFO list. Yea!!
That makes 3 UFO’s finished so far this year.
I made this quilt as a BOM at my LQS. I decided to do the red one since I don’t have any red quilts. After making this one I remembered why I don’t own any red quilts………….I really can’t stand the color red!!
I planned on doing some pretty custom quilting on it, but I didn’t want to waste any more time on something that I don’t like, So it got a quick panto design. I am sooo glad it’s done!
It always feels good to finish a quilt. 🙂
