Camelot, our 2017 mystery quilt

I’m a bit behind on posting our latest quilt from the lock in this year. Everyone had a great time and we’ve been seeing lots of completed tops. I made mine using Kaffe Fasset fabrics.

Here is Sharon’s quilt.

Bailey got quite a bit done on hers that day.

Kolleen  showed her finished quilt at guild last month.

I finished quilting Doris’ quilt today.

Pam sent me picture of hers. It’s always fun to see all the different fabrics that the ladies choose for their mystery quilts.

We had lots of show and tell from last years quilt, Knotty Times.

We held another lock in at the Booneslick Trail quilt guild in Columbia Missouri. They had lots of show and tell from last years mystery quilt too!

Sharon and I had another great time hosting our annual mystery lock in and also going to Columbia and having a fun day with them! We’re looking forward to next year and seeing more finished quilts from this years mystery. Both patterns, Camelot and Knotty Times are available in our Etsy and Craftsy stores.😀

That’s it for now. Have a great day!

Design wall 3/13/17 more fun with strings & Triple play quilt

Life’s been busy the last few weeks and I haven’t had (or rather taken) the time to post anything. I did finish my Triple play quilt top and it’s quilted and bound. Yea!

We held our annual mystery lock in day earlier this month. Everyone was busy sewing all day and appeared to have a great time. We had lots of show and tell of last years mystery quilt, Knotty Times.

Also lots of Midnight Magic quilts from the 2015 lock in.
It’s always fun to see all the different colors that the ladies use. They all look great!!

We are hosting another mystery day next month so  you’ll have to stay tuned to see our latest mystery quilt.

I finally got back to working on a new string quilt and I am currently sewing the rows together. It’s on the design wall this week. When I get time I will finish sewing them together and get the borders added on.

That’s it for today. To see more walls, check out www.patchworktimes.com

Lock in mystery quilt

I held off sharing this years quilt until we held our 2nd mystery lock in. Our yearly lock in was a success with  a room full of ladies attending. Lots of show and tell that day too. Here are a few of the ladies lining up to show their quilts from last years pattern Midnight Magic.

It’s always fun to see the variety of colors everyone chooses.

This years quilt is called Knotty Times. We offer several sizes in the pattern so Sharon made the baby and throw sizes.

I made the queen size. If you read my blog back when I was picking out the fabrics, you might remember that I debated over whether or not to use the green. I used it and it’s pretty wild!

Anyway, there is this years mystery lock in quilts. Sharon put the pattern on both our Etsy and Craftsy stores if you’re interested. Follow the link on the sidebar to check out our shops.

Tonight is my guild meeting and we have our quilt show challenge quilts due. This years challenge was string quilts, so I’m looking forward to seeing the quilts. Voting on a favorite though is always hard!

Design wall 2/29/16 -strings

I have my sisters quilt hanging on my wall today. I finished quilting it and hung it to take a picture of it and since I won’t see her until Sat. I decided to leave it there. It’s one of our past Lock in quilts, Stormy Weather.(pattern available in our Etsy and Craftsy shops)

I’ve been busy getting things ready for this years Lock in which is coming up this Sat. I have my quilt made and I quilted it over the weekend. I attached the binding before taking it off the longarm, so I just need to fold it over and get it sewn down, which I’m doing by machine in order to get it done. I need to run up to the UPS store and get all the instructions printed off today so I’m not sure if I’ll get the binding finished today, but it will be done before Sat.😀

I’m still on a mission to use my stash and that includes scraps. So whenever  I get a few minutes, I’ve been pressing and cutting strips for string quilts. I have several string blocks made but the pile of strings keeps growing!!😳

Guess I better keep sewing…..

Not now though. I’m off to the printer then back to binding.

Design wall 1/12/16

There’s nothing “on the wall” today, but I have been working on things. Maybe playing would be a better word to use 😀. I’ve been playing with the Accucutter. I sewed strips together and then laid them on the cutter and in minutes had them all cut into 2″ pieces.

All 200 of them. 👍

That was fun! Gee…..sounds like I need to get a life!!! Haha!! Anyway, that’s about all I can share at this point. The quilt is a mystery…….

I had a mysterious thing happen the other night. I was sewing the binding onto my Kansas row by row quilt and as I came to the end, I needed to backstich, so I reached up and hit the backstich button and all of a sudden my sewing machine took off like a bat out of h***!!!  Sewing right off the quilt and still going strong!!! I was like WHOA!!!!!

See where it ran off? It took a few seconds for me to react, so I just touched the same button that I had touched previously. Or so I thought………. It ended up that the button located just ABOVE the backstich button, makes the machine sew without using the foot petal. Hmm……never knew that………now I do! 😳. Apparently when I hit the backstich button I accidentally hit the auto button and having the machine set at the highest speed, well, there it went!! Full speed ahead!!!

Oh well, now I know what that button with the two round circles is for. It’s there to scare the **** out of you!

Happy sewing!

Design wall 1/4/16 new year, new projects

My Kansas row by row quilt top is still on the wall. I pieced a scrappy back together for it, so it’s ready for quilting. I have a few customer quilts to get done before I can put it on the machine.

I cut out a new quilt last week and I’m anxious to get started on it.

Today I started cutting out my mystery lock in quilt. I decided to keep the green in there, since I know what the pattern looks like, I think it will be fine.

That’s it for now. Check out other walls at http://www.patchworktimes.com

Thanksgiving day and my sisters quilt

This year I had my Mom and my sisters family come to my house for Thanksgiving dinner, there was 9 of us all together. We managed to sit all of us around the table too. That was nice. Anyway, after we ate, the guys headed in to watch football and my sister and I headed down to my quilt room. 🙂 She has been busy getting some of her rows sewn together from last years lock in mystery quilt, She brought it with her as she wanted to show me how it’s looking. We decided to hang them on my design wall.

That’s it for now. 🙂 hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
