Design wall Monday 3/2/14 circles

Since I didn’t have to drive the school bus today because of the frigid cold temps, I decided to start my Monday off by getting the rest of the rows sewn together on this quilt. All that’s left to do is add a border. I’m  going to add a solid black border and call it done. Probably won’t get to that this week because of the Lock in being next Saturday. I have my quilt quilted and binding attached, just need to get it sewn down and it will be ready to go! I still have lots to do before Sat.

Anyway, for the last time, here’s the circle quilt on my wall. It looks different with the black sashing strips.

Now I better make good use of my day off,  and get to quilting.

My colorful wall

Image

I’m a bit behind this week on design wall Monday, I did get quite a few of the blocks finished last week. I only have 10 more to go, then it’s time for sashings. Once I started working on these, I just kept going. It sure makes my design wall colorful! I’m getting anxious to get the whole top done! We’ll see how long it takes on that………….

I ordered some fabric last week, for the back of my lock in mystery quilt. It should arrive tomorrow. That should give me time to quilt it before the lock in. I also have my sisters lock in quilt from last year to quilt before then too. I hope to get it loaded today before I leave.

Sharon and I are giving our lecture/trunk show tonight in KC, so I’ve been organizing and packing up all my quilts this morning. They are now in the car and ready to go. Bad thing is they’re calling for  snow this evening, not a lot but it still makes for a mess. Come on spring!! I am sooooo ready for you to get here!!

Design wall Monday12/9/13

Monday again? Already?? Wow……
I guess I did get a lot done last week. I finished bindings on 3 of my own quilts, quilted several customer quilts, got the borders sewn on a quilt top and pieced another quilt too. Whew! That’s a lot for me!!
Here’s the batik one that I got borders added onto. It’s now ready to quilt.

I am having so much fun playing around with strips of fabric, I decided to look for some fabric to cut into strips and I came across this pretty cardinal fabric that I bought years ago.

20131209-124044.jpg

It was too pretty to cut into small pieces, so I never used it in anything. When I saw it last night…….. hmm…….I wonder if………

So I cut into it, added strips, and came up with this.

Another strip quilt. Less than 2 hours to cut it out and piece the top! I like that! It just needs borders now. I have plenty of the cardinal fabric, so I’ll add a wide border of it. Woohoo! Using my stash! And having fun doing it!

Anyway, that’s what’s on my design wall today. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

My squares from last weeks wall got taken down and put in boxes. This ones going to take awhile.

Lots of parts and pieces in it!

That’s it for me! Have a good week!

How Great Thou Art Quilt

The first Saturday of each month, I go to my LQS for Saturday Sampler. Last month one of the ladies that was there, asked me if I would quilt a couple of quilts for her. I told her I could and she said she’d bring them with her today. Well, she brought the quilts in and had some pictures of how she wanted one of them quilted. The quilt pattern is one of Deanna Hodson’s designs. She took several pictures of Deanna’s quilt because she just loved the way it was quilted. She was showing me all these closeup pictures and I finally started snickering and told her that “I think I can quilt it just like Deanna’s since I was the one that quilted Deanna’s” we both started laughing then!
Here are a few shots of Deanna’s quilt.

Design wall Monday 11/25

I didn’t get much sewing done this last week and with this week being Thanksgiving, I may not get much done this week either. Anyway, my batik strips are still on the wall.

20131125-124735.jpg

All that’s left is to add the borders. I found fabrics that I think will look good, now to get them on! 🙂

20131125-124943.jpg

I did finish several customer quilts last week, as well as my black and white strip quilt.

20131125-131754.jpg

I even did a pieced backing for it, so I could use up some more black and white fabric. 🙂 One of the fabrics is cats, so I ended up using a kitten panto for the quilting. Of course you can’t see it……..

Design wall Monday 11/4

I finished getting all the flying geese sewn together with sashing strips. Now all that’s left is to put a border on. I’m hoping to get that done this week sometime, but I need to focus on getting customer quilts done. For now the geese are hanging around on my wall.

I’m glad it’s done and I’m happy with the way it looks.

Design wall Monday 10/28

I actually got quite a bit of sewing done this last week. First off, I completed my EPP quilt too. I really like it in the bright colors.

My flying geese have taken over the wall now. I have all the rows sewn, now just need to get them sewn together with sashing strips.

Flying geese units done…

I got all 377 flying geese units made over the weekend. I use the no waste method and they go together really fast. Now I’m ready to start assembling them into a quilt top.

20131021-095039.jpg

I need to use up some of my scraps so I am using scraps for all the FG. I can’t tell that I used any at all, but I did…..LOL!!

Anyway, I haven’t put them on the wall yet, but that’s what will go up. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com
