A good day is when you find the perfect fabrics!

We were on the road today and stopped by The Blue Top quilt shop in Lamar, Missouri. I’m so glad we did as I found just the fabrics I’ve been needing. I made this cat print quilt a few weeks ago and it’s been hanging on my design wall waiting on me to decide what to use for a backing.

Today I found a cute black and white paw print fabric that is perfect for the back.

Now I just need to get it pieced together and quilt it. 😊

The other fabric I wanted was something that would go along with this license plate fabric that I bought last summer.

The plan is to make a quilt based on the technique in my book, but make it bigger. So I needed another fabric to work into the mix. Here’s what I found today.

 Perfect!!!

That’s what I call a good day. 😀

Design wall 2/15/16 top finished, another one quilted

I didn’t get a whole lot done this week as far as my stuff goes. I did manage to find time to get the rest of the borders sewn onto the Novelty Fun quilt I had on my wall last week.

I do like the green border in there. Now to find a backing and get it quilted………

Speaking of quilting, I was caught up on customer pantograph quilts, so I put my butterfly Cinema quilt top on the machine and got it quilted.

I chose a butterfly pantograph pattern to go along with the fabric. The binding is attached, just need to sew it down and I can call it done! 👍

Guess that’s it for my wall this week. Check out more design walls at http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 2/1/16 finishes

Well, my design wall looks the same as last week. I’ve been looking at those blue and white rows and that’s it. Still undecided on what to do with them………

I figure since I can’t decide on the rows, I’ll get other things accomplished, so I quilted both my snowflake quilt and my deer quilt last week. Yea!! I can now mark them off my UFO list.😀

I also have my cougar quilt cut out and I’m ready to start sewing on it. I had to finish my mystery lock in quilt first, which I did, but can’t share it as it’s a secret.😎

I guess I had a pretty productive week last week. Hope I can get that much done this week! We’ll see………..

Columbine pattern/snowflakes fabric

One of the quilts in my book “Sew,Slice,Spin and Sash”, is called Columbine. I’m so creative when it comes to giving names to patterns, NOT!!! Haha!! Anyway, I designed it using 2 of the same prints but with different background colors.

I had a couple of snowflake fabrics in my stash so I used the columbine pattern and made a snowflake quilt. I finally had time to get it on the machine and quilt it.

I quilted it with a cute mitten pattern.

I used a solid blue flannel for the back so that it would be nice and warm to snuggle up in on a cold winter night.

Now I need to finish the binding and call it done!!

Design wall 1/25/16 blue and white rows

They’re back……….I had these on the wall several months ago but had to take them down when I started putting the Kansas row by row together.

The challenge was to have them ready for our Feb guild meeting. Knowing that wasn’t going to happen, I took them down and figured someday I’d get back to them.

Well, lucky me, the due date got changed to our May meeting so I might be able to do something with it now and make the deadline. Yea!

Our Kansas quilts were shown at our Jan meeting. Here’s a final look at mine.

I’ve been working on my lock in mystery quilt and all I have left is to add the borders. It’s pretty wild but I love it! I’ll share it at a later date.

That’s it for my wall this week. To see more walls go to http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 1/12/16

There’s nothing “on the wall” today, but I have been working on things. Maybe playing would be a better word to use 😀. I’ve been playing with the Accucutter. I sewed strips together and then laid them on the cutter and in minutes had them all cut into 2″ pieces.

All 200 of them. 👍

That was fun! Gee…..sounds like I need to get a life!!! Haha!! Anyway, that’s about all I can share at this point. The quilt is a mystery…….

I had a mysterious thing happen the other night. I was sewing the binding onto my Kansas row by row quilt and as I came to the end, I needed to backstich, so I reached up and hit the backstich button and all of a sudden my sewing machine took off like a bat out of h***!!!  Sewing right off the quilt and still going strong!!! I was like WHOA!!!!!

See where it ran off? It took a few seconds for me to react, so I just touched the same button that I had touched previously. Or so I thought………. It ended up that the button located just ABOVE the backstich button, makes the machine sew without using the foot petal. Hmm……never knew that………now I do! 😳. Apparently when I hit the backstich button I accidentally hit the auto button and having the machine set at the highest speed, well, there it went!! Full speed ahead!!!

Oh well, now I know what that button with the two round circles is for. It’s there to scare the **** out of you!

Happy sewing!

Design wall 1/4/16 new year, new projects

My Kansas row by row quilt top is still on the wall. I pieced a scrappy back together for it, so it’s ready for quilting. I have a few customer quilts to get done before I can put it on the machine.

I cut out a new quilt last week and I’m anxious to get started on it.

Today I started cutting out my mystery lock in quilt. I decided to keep the green in there, since I know what the pattern looks like, I think it will be fine.

That’s it for now. Check out other walls at http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 1/26/15 fabric and block

There really isn’t anything exciting on my wall this week. I’m still trying to use up my stash so I found a beautiful floral print but only had one yard of it, so I cut it up and that’s what’s on my wall.

I’m going to frame the blocks and add a Sashing. It will look similar to the California quilt that I made last year but won’t be as big because I only had 1 yard of fabric. I don’t really care what size it ends up as it will just be a lap quilt and the fabric is so pretty I don’t want to cut it into small pieces.

I am also making progress on my Georgia block, I didn’t get it done in two weeks like I did Florida but it’s coming along.

Kansas row by row

Had a fun time at my guild meeting last night. Our Kansas row by row exchange was due. We only had 2 groups participate in the exchange and group 1 didn’t show up with their rows so only group 2 got to exchange. I’m glad I was in group 2. Anyway, I went easy and made this row.

These are the rows I exchanged for.

I love the rows everyone made!!
Now I’ll have to decide how I want to put them together.

I also got a little surprise gift from my friend Joelyn. She does beautiful embroidery work and she made me a little rug mug. (Although no mug will ever be placed on this!!)

Isn’t it beautiful? I LOVE it and she was so kind to make it for me. Thank you again Joelyn!!

Well, that’s it for now. Have a great day!

Sashings added to California quilt

I finished up the sashings this morning and added the borders. I wasn’t thinking and just cut the borders the same width as the sashings. Duh! I probably would have made the borders a bit wider, but, oh well…..it’s done and more of my stash is used up!! Yea!! I will use the dark blue for the binding to finish it off. 🙂

Now I have to finish working on a top that Sharon and I are teaching on Sunday. It’s a mystery class, so no peeking on it. LOL!

Have a good day!
