MQS win

I decided to enter my little miniature wholecloth in the MQS show and guess what? It got a second place ribbon! I was shocked! A friend of mine was there during the judging and she told me later that some ladies were talking about my miniature and they were saying that “oh, it’s digitized” she didn’t say anything but she knew better. 🙂

Here it is with the ribbon, hanging at the show.

Quilt barns

My friend and I went to Carroll, Iowa last week and took a maintenance class at APQS. We enjoyed seeing all the quilt blocks that were on the barns. These were all located on 71 highway, between Carroll and the Missouri state line.

I love seeing these. We saw a few more but I couldn’t get the camera up fast enough. I wish I had a barn…..

What’s on the machine 2/29

Shame on me. I’m falling behind on keeping up here. I can only show what’s on Viqtoria. (Millie has Sharon’s mystery lock in quilt for this year, so no peeking on it.)

Here’s what I took off earlier. It’s for a 13 year old.

That’s what I’m working on. What about you? Anything fun?

Have a good day!

My students work

My friend Barb was one of my students last week. I stopped by her house today so she could show me what she did after class.

When she got home after class, she had 2 small wall hangings that were ready to be quilted, so she decided to quilt feathers on them.

This one has a continuous feather going through the background, crossing the quilt diagonally.

On this one she freehanded the feathered wreath, filling the square, and then running a continuous feather across the quilt through the triangle blocks.

I think she did a great job!!

Now back to work for me.
Have a great day!

2nd UFO done

Yea!! I finished the binding on this one. My hope is to get at least one UFO done each month. So far I’m 2 for 2 this year!!
I bought this quilt top off of eBay several years ago. I finally just put it on the machine and did a panto on it. It’s one of those carry around in the car quilts. 🙂 nothing fancy but great in an emergency!! I’m glad it’s done!! Now I have to decide next months UFO……

Design wall Monday 2/6/12

I actually have the same quilt on the wall that’s been on there for awhile. I haven’t had time to get the sashings pieced. I’ve been sewing units for the mystery quilt. I have a lot to sew since I’m doing the king size one. I have to have it done by the 10th of March. Here’s the pieces that make up the blocks. I can’t remember how many hundreds there are on some of them…

That’s it for today. I better get back to work. To see what others have on their walls go to http://www.patchworktimes.com

What’s on the machine Wed. 1/18

Here it is Wednesday again. I loaded this quilt on Viqtoria today. It’s just going to be basted before moving it over onto Millie. I have no idea how to quilt it…….. Hopefully something will come to me.

Flying geese

I’ve been working on FG units today. I do the no waste method. In case you haven’t seen it I’ll share the steps I do to end up with 4 FG units and NO waste. Using 1 large square and 4 small squares…

20120117-203727.jpg

I use a little glue and baste the smaller squares down on the big square, then I mark my lines…..

20120117-203757.jpg

Sew on the marked lines and cut apart, press, then lay one of the small squares on the piece, mark and sew as before….

20120117-203827.jpg

Cut apart and press open. You will now have 4 flying geese units and no waste.

Back to my geese now……
