Crown Royal quilt…..coming.

It’s funny how things work sometimes. I just happened to park in front of the liquor store, where the clerk could look directly at my car. I have a front license plate that says “I love quilting”.

The conversation went like this.

Him- are you a quilter?

Me- yes

Him- have you ever made a crown royal quilt?

Me- not yet, but my son is collecting the bags for one.

Him- do you want some bags?

Me- sure.

Him- hold on and I’ll get you some. (he then gets a paper sack from under the counter and opens it. Sits it on the end of the counter and waits on the customer that walks up.)

Him- I’ll have to get them out of my truck. I’ll be right back. (There is no one in the store, so he goes out to his truck and I stood outside the door.)

After what seemed like forever…..he came around the corner carrying the paper sack.

I then realized ‘why’ it took him so long!

Boy did I hit the jackpot!!! I got home and counted 117 Crown Royal bags!! Holy cow! Now I need to decide on a pattern…….

.

Have you ever made a Crown Royal quilt?

New tablet pc

I love getting new gadgets, but trying to figure them out sometimes is confusing. I am going to try to add a picture on here, just to see if I can. I wrote about my friend Barbs new book a couple days ago, and sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn’t. So I will post the picture of the new book here.  it appears to be showing up. I don’t know what happened to the post that I wrote about her new book. I am so excited about it being released. I got to quilt several of the quilts in it. I was reading it today and I am ready to try the back basting technique. I’ve seen her do it, but not being an applique person………….well…….I will try!!

Barb has a blog too. It’s barbsfavorites.com. You can check it out to see what she’s up to.

Ok, well, I hope this posts……….

The quilting

I finished the quilting on the guild opportunity quilt, I haven’t taken time to show how it looks with the quilting. I did lots of feathers on it. I knew I wanted feathers in the purple points around the center block.

After doing all the purple pointed areas, I put in a background fill of just random stuff. I did the outside border next because I knew I was going to run a continuous feather all the way around the quilt.

That left only the side setting triangles left I quilted and I wasn’t sure what to put in those areas. Finally I decided that since I love quilting feathers……..yep, I put feathers in them! LOL!!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed seeing the pics. Ticket sales were great at our quilt show last weekend. The drawing is in November. I hope I win!! LOL!!!!!

That’s it for now………..

Class tommorow

I’ve spent most of the day today cleaning my quilting area. It looks nice. LOL!  I wish it looked this nice all the time!

I had to clean because I have a class tomorrow. We’ve had to reschedule this class a couple of times because of snow. Finally, we’ve got past the dang snow!! I’m looking forward to the ladies coming tomorrow. I’ll be teaching my basics class.  I quilted a donation tonight with a quick panto so I would have a quilt ready for binding. I will show them how to put the binding on with the longarm. I hope they learn alot from the class.

I have muslin loaded on the machine, ready for them to get started. I guess now I need to get to bed so that I’m not too tired!

That’s it for now…

What’s on the machine Wednesday, 4/24

Wow, has this been a busy month. So much for my blogging every day! LOL!!

Since it’s Wednesday, I figured I could share what I’ve got on the machine. It’s the opportunity quilt. I’m running out of time on this! Our quilt show is May 4th. Ugh! I have to finish the quilting and then it gets piping, binding and a sleeve. Nothing like stress! I’ve had the hardest time with trying to figure out HOW to quilt it. I just keep doing a bit here and then a bit there and hopefully when I’m done it will look ok. ……..oh my, better get back to it…………..

What’s on the machines? 4/3/13

I thought about challenging myself to write something on my blog everyday during the month of April, but I couldn’t think of anything to write yesterday, so I already blew that idea! LOL! Maybe I can hit ALMOST everyday……we’ll see…….

Here’s what I’m working on now. My customer made it for her churches 60th anniversary this month. I’m almost finished with it, I still have to decide what to put in the thin gold border and fill in the cross and heart in the center. I’m getting close to the end!

I’m in the process of loading one on Viqtoria that will get a panto design on it.

Design wall Monday 4/1/13

It’s empty!! Yea! I finally finished my guilds opportunity quilt tonight, so my wall is empty!!! I was really getting tired of seeing this on my wall. It outgrew the wall after I put the last border on it, so I laid it on the floor and got what I could of the top.

Next step will be to quilt it. I have several waiting with deadlines that have to be done first, so hopefully I will get to it soon.

Have a good one!

What’s on the machines 3/20/13

I haven’t had time to write lately. Still working on the opportunity quilt, so it hasn’t changed much. I don’t feel as if I’m accomplishing anything with trying to work on so many different things. I need to finish something! LOL!!

Anyway, today has been a green day! LOL!!

On Viqtoria…

The quilt on Viqtoria is our lock in mystery quilt “Hawaiin Dream” from a few weeks ago. Vicky already has her top done. She wanted palm trees for the quilting.

Ok, that’s it for now. Have a good day!
