Bloc loc rulers

Have you heard of these rulers? I think they’re great for squaring up HST’s. they have a ridge across the center that catches on the seam and holds it snug while you square up the block.

I like to use a rotating mat when squaring up the blocks, so I can just turn the mat without lifting the ruler.
They are pretty neat!!

I bought the Half Rectangle Triangle ruler in Houston, but haven’t tried it yet.
Anyway, if you hate having your ruler slip when you square up half square triangles, I highly recommend using these rulers.

Design wall Monday 2/25/13

Last month at my guild meeting we had a demo night and one lady was showing how to make the fabric bowls. I had never been interested in them until I saw how she was doing it. I decided it looked like fun! So now I have the rope and I’m ready to make me a bowl……..

we’ll see how it turns out!! LOL!!

Update- got one done….

That was fun. I just did a small one.

The back of the quilt!

Sometimes the back of the quilt looks as good as the front!! LOL!! The back is sateen.

Here’s the front. I showed the center a few days ago. My customer picked it up today and loved it! That always makes me happy!!

I love filling those odd shapes with feathers. Can ya tell!?! LOL!!

I finished quilting my lock in quilt today and I’ve got the binding sewn on, now just need to turn it over and stitch it down. Yea!!

That’s it for now!

What’s on the machines 2/20/13

Wednesdays are my days that I try to show what’s on the machines. Today almost got away from me before I remembered! LOL!!

I finished this one this evening on Viqtoria. It’s Bonnie Hunters scrappy Bargello pattern made by my friend Vicky.

This is the one on Millie. I have the center done and the pieced border is quilted. I’m going to add more feathers in the space around the center design. As you might know, I love feathers!! LOL!!

Ok that’s it for now. Have a good one!

Rio Grande Valley Quilt Show

I wish I could’ve went down to the quilt show this year. Two quilts that I quilted were in the show and they both received ribbons! Yea!

Carol has won several blue ribbons at the show over the years. One year she got Best Of Show. This year she got a blue on the one I quilted for her. Both hers and Cheryl’s quilts were both large bed quilts.

This was the first time that Cheryl entered a quilt and she got 3rd place. I’m so happy for Cheryl! My mother in law used to go to the quilt show with Cheryl and we lost her to cancer back in Dec so it’s sad that she didn’t get to share in Cheryl’s excitement of winning a ribbon.

Here’s the link to see the winning quilts.

I don’t have a close up of Carols quilt in my phone, but here’s a couple close ups of Cheryl’s quilt.

Have a good day!

Design wall Monday 2/18/13

I spent today getting the last of the borders put on my lock in mystery quilt. It’s
now done and ready to be quilted!! Yea!!! Sorry I can’t show more but it IS a “mystery” and this is the whole quilt!! LOL!! Too bad it’s hanging on a hanger….. 🙂

I’ll let you see the whole quilt after the lock in on March 9th. I hope the ladies attending this year are happy with the design.

Now I have to get back to working on my guilds opportunity quilt.

That’s it for now. To see more design walls check out.
