Weekend of quilting………….

I feel like I accomplished a lot this weekend. Yesterday, after I got home from my LQS, I loaded a quilt and did a panto on it.

I made my January block for this years BOM.

I cut backings for 2 quilts, squared them up and put zippers on the next 4 quilts in line for quilting.

Today, I loaded my Jiffy Jive quilt. I chose to put a solid black on the back and I used Dave Hudson’s panto with sewing stuff on it. I used purple thread on the front and a variegated thread on the back. I had fabric left from the purple FQ’s I used in the top and pieced them together for the binding.

The quilting is kind of hard to see on the front.

Here’s the back. I flipped every other row so that all the sewing machines wouldn’t be backwards on the back of the quilt.

Here’s what I’ve got on the machine now. It’s the first of 3 BIG custom quilts that I need to do this week.

That’s my busy weekend of sewing and quilting. I don’t plan to sew on anything this week. I need to focus on just quilting. Hope I can!!

2011 BOM

Do you ever have one of those days that just starts off great? I went to my LQS this morning and got a parking spot right in front of the door. 🙂 You know that never happens, I’m usually a block away!! Then I caught one of the FQ’s that they throw out. Then my ticket was drawn for one of the door prizes!! What a way to start my day!!

Here’s the fabrics that I’ll be working with on the BOM for this year. Our choices were either the sunflower fabric or batiks. I really like batiks, but I chose to go with the sunflower print.

I finished quilting all 3 quilts that I needed to do last week. I also finished piecing the top on my 2009 BOM. I made the stars different on mine different than what the pattern called for. I used Marti Michell’s Sashing Stars templates. I bought the templates a while back and hadn’t used them yet, so I decided to try them out. Quick, easy and fast!! I give them a thumbs up!!

Here’s how the stars look according to the pattern.

Well, that’s it for now. I hope my day continues to be a good one, and I hope your day is good too!! Now I’m off to sew and quilt the rest of the day. 🙂

I love quilting feathers!

I finished 2 of the 3 quilts that I need to finish this week. I love, love, love quilting feathers!! I have been dying to quilt this quilt since the day I got it. I knew when I saw it that I would quilt feathers on it.

Because of the diagonal pattern, I quilted the floral squares with a continuos curve pattern and then quilted the border before taking the quilt off the machine and reloading it sideways. The quilting went really fast that way.

After I took this one off, I loaded a small baby quilt and did a panto pattern on it. The fabric has jungle animals on it, so I used a cute pattern with animals on it. Can you see the alligators face?

I even had time to sew on my BOM. All the blocks are sewn into rows, ready to be sewn together. Hopefully I can get the rows sewn today and be ready to add the borders. I have the next quilt on the machine, which is the same BOM pattern as I’m sewing on, except it’s in blue and mine’s in red.

Guess I better get back to work here. Have a good day!!

BOM’s

The new year always gets me motivated to work on current projects. Each year I think that “this will be the year that I get caught up on all my UFO’s.” LOL!! At least 2010 was a better year than 2009, because I was able to finish 13 of my UFO’s in 2010 compared to 0 (zero) in 2009. I hope to finish more in 2011. 🙂 Wish me luck!! LOL!!

I spent the weekend working on 2 of my BOM’s. Both of these are from my LQS’s Saturday Sampler BOM. I have the 2010 top completed. Yeah!!

I have the 2009 BOM on the design wall. I have 2 of the rows sewn together.  I hope to get the other rows sewn together in the next few days. I also need to get 3 quilts quilted this week. So we’ll see how much sewing I get done.

I guess that’s it for now. TTFN!!
