Misc stuff

My friend Joelyn came by the other day  to pick up one of her quilts I had ready for her and she had a little gift for me.

She does beautiful embroidery work!! I love it!

She left her Accu cutter with me so I could cut out some hexies. Took me maybe 5 minutes at the most, to cut all these perfect hexies out.

I think I could cut shapes all day with one of those! Might not get anything sewn together, but I could sure get things cut out!! LOL!!

Guess I better get those Dresden flower shapes done before I start working on the hexies………

Design wall 6/1/25

Wow, can you believe it’s  already June? Time is flying by!

I have a few sashing strips sewn onto the rows of my what quilters think stars.

I’m hoping to have all the rows sewn together tonight. But we’ll see…….

Last week I showed my EPP project that I had started. Well, after making a few of them, I decided to change the plan. I am now making Dresden flowers for my row by row. They are much faster to make than those other pieces were.

I still have to put a circle onto the center, but they are faster and since I have a deadline…..that’s what I’m making. Hope they like them!

Well, that’s what I have on my wall, to see more walls, check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 5/25/15 stars and EPP stars

Here it is Monday again. I’m still working on my purple stars, I finished making the rest of the blocks this last week and have the first row sewn together.

I’m hoping to have this finished before July gets here. That’s my goal anyway!! πŸ˜€

I signed up to participate in a row by row at my guild that’s due in July. I finally decided what I “think” I’m going to make. It’s going to be a blue and white row by row. I came up with some pretty blues so I’m doing some EPP blocks that I will applique onto a white background.

First one done! Yea! Many more to go…………

That’s it for me this week. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 5/18/15 stars & state block

Guess I’ll check in this week with a quick update. I’ve been sewing a bit on these blocks.

I bought a couple of the “what quilters really think” panels several years ago and never did anything with them, Β I finally decided to make them into star blocks and use up more of my stash of purple fabrics. I have 24 blocks made with 24 blocks left to go. Woohoo! Half way done!! So, that’s what’s on my wall……..

I’m making progress on my next state block also.

That’s it for my design wall this week, to see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 4/21/15 HST’s/Log cabin/state block

This last week, I managed to finish getting the log cabin quilt all pieced and ready to quilt, added the last 2 borders on the HST’s quilt top and now it’s ready to quilt. I also finished embroidering the Illinois block.

Right now the HST’s quilt is still on the wall, I can’t decide which project will go onto the wall next….maybe I should get back to this one…….

I did make a couple more blocks the other day. Hmm. We’ll see. Anyway, to see more design walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall 4/13/15 log cabin/FGΒ

I’m making progress! All the rows are completed and on the wall. I almost ran out of room so I couldn’t leave space for the sashings.

I’m hoping to get this finished in time for our local quilt show in May.

I made a little progress on my Illinois block this past week.

I can’t believe how much faster the embroidering is going since I changed from using the embroidery floss to the pearl cotton. πŸ˜€

Design wall Monday 4/6/15 log cabin & state birds

I ‘ve been working a bit on the log cabin blocks  this week. I’m putting all 32 together at the same time, so it doesn’t seem like I’ve gotten much done with them.

I’ll be glad when the blocks are done. 😊

I finished embroidering the Idaho block. Yea!! I now have 13 of 50 done. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I’ve got this much of the Illinois block done so far.

Illinois is block #5 for the year. Woohoo!! I hope I can stay on track with these.

Speaking of tracks…….we went over to my brothers yesterday for Easter dinner and they have the modified race cars ready to start racing this weekend. I had to take a picture of my nephews car.

See it? LOL!! That location should stay dent free. I hope!!

Ok, well, I guess I’ll get back to quilting now.

Design wall 3/29/15 log cabin

We had a fun filled weekend with the ladies from down by Wichita. We taught them a mystery quilt and had time to sew on our own projects too. I got a few hundred Flying geese made. Whew! Once I got all the FG done I was able to start constructing the blocks. I finished 4 blocks and now they are on my design wall. Yea!  I’m anxious to get the rest of the blocks made and get the quilt completed.

Here’s a look at our mystery quilt from this years lock in. We taught them the same mystery at the retreat. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s completed quilts.

That’s the only good picture I have of mine. We used it for the front of the pattern.

Now I have to get back to work on the LongArm. I’m hoping to have  some sewing time in the evenings this week.😊

Mystery retreat weekend, packing.

Decisions, decisions, what do I take? This weekend I will be going on my first weekend retreat and I’m looking forward to it. The hard part is deciding what projects to take along with me to work on. Last week I marked my Idaho block and I’ve gotten this much of it done already, so it will be going along. Maybe I can get it finished and start the Illinois block, which I have marked and ready to start.

Being off work last week and taking a quick little road trip allowed me time to work on this in the car. My goal is to get one of these blocks done each month and this is block number four for this year, which means I’m ahead of schedule. Yay!

I have a quilt cut out and packed so hopefully I will have time to get some of these blocks made.

It’s made of flying geese and log cabins. I’m really wanting to get it made so that will be my top priority.

I have some of the what do quilters think panels that I bought several years ago and finally decided what to do with them to get them out of my stash. I’m going to use some of my purple fabrics and make the squares into star blocks so I cut out a few of the pieces for those blocks last night. I will take it along too, just in case I decide I’m tired of working on my other two projects.

That’s what I have planned to take along so far. Whether or not I get anything done “who knows?” LOL!!

I finally finished adding the last border into my scrappy quilt.

That was a fast fun quilt to make! Now to get it quilted and bound.

I couldn’t find anything in my stash that I liked for the border on my HST block quilt, so I took the top to my LQS and found a great fabric for the border.

I still have to add both a light and a dark border before I add that outside border. Another top from my stash. Most of it anyway!!πŸ˜ƒ

Guess that’s it for now. Have a great day!

Design wall 3/16/15 embroidered block and HST’s

My design wall hasn’t changed much this week. All I got done was to sew the sashing strips together. Hopefully sometime this week I can sew all the rows together and get the borders on.

ο»Ώ

I finished up my Hawaii block last night.. Yea!! I marked Idaho todayπŸ˜€. That makes one block a month so far this year!!ο»Ώ I’m hoping I can stick to that schedule the whole year.
