Love this fabric!

I found this at my LQS today and just had to have it!!

I had to get some of the other fabric to go with it too!

I don’t know what I’ll do with it yet, but that doesn’t matter. I’ll figure out something one of these days. 😉 maybe!!

At our quilt show this year, we’re going to have an antique sewing machine display. Here’s my hand crank.

I need to figure out how to wind the bobbin so I can demo with it that day. My friend Doris has one too and she doesn’t know how the bobbin works either.

Oh I just had a thought! Maybe I could get something made to hang in the display area with my new fabric?!?!?!

Gosh, I better get to work!! Have a good day!!!

What’s on the machine 1/30/13

I have so much that needs to be done that I never feel like I have the time to stop and blog. Today, I’m taking a break and blogging a bit about what’s going on…..

Millie has another Christmas Peace on her. This is a BOM that will be offered this year.

I’m getting ready to load this on Viqtoria. Such a cute quilt!

I haven’t worked any more on my guilds opportunity quilt but I have sewn all the blue jeans into blocks. 64 of them.

Next step is to make strips to cover all the seams.

I’m sewing on my lock in quilt too, which needs to take priority as I have to have it finished by March 9th. Here’s a sneek peek at a bit of what I’ve sewn so far.

That’s what’s going on today.

Have a good one!

Design wall Monday 1/20

I somehow managed to get myself involved in working on my guilds opportunity quilt this year. Joelyn does beautiful machine embroidery, so she has all the embroidery done. Sharon used EQ and got the pattern all worked out into the correct sizes. Now it’s time to piece it together. Here’s the center block. It measures like 24″ square.

Patriotic row by row

Top is done! Yea!! I finished piecing the borders last night and got them sewn on today.
I put stars in the 4 corners and I wish I would’ve used a lighter color. They are hard to see, but I’m not changing it now. This is a great way to use up some scraps, it just didn’t use enough of them!! LOL!!

That’s it for now. Have a great day!

Design wall Monday 3/19/12

These blocks have been on the wall for awhile. With everything else I’ve been doing, it got put on the back burner. It’s time now to get back to it. I’m working on the sashing pieces and here’s how it’s looking.

I do like it better with the dark color added into the sashing. The blocks alone were just too blah!!

UFO finished

I finished the binding on this quilt today, so I can mark it off my UFO list. Yea!!
That makes 3 UFO’s finished so far this year.

I made this quilt as a BOM at my LQS. I decided to do the red one since I don’t have any red quilts. After making this one I remembered why I don’t own any red quilts………….I really can’t stand the color red!!
I planned on doing some pretty custom quilting on it, but I didn’t want to waste any more time on something that I don’t like, So it got a quick panto design. I am sooo glad it’s done!

It always feels good to finish a quilt. 🙂
Even though I named this one Fugly! LOL!!

What’s on the machine 2/29

Shame on me. I’m falling behind on keeping up here. I can only show what’s on Viqtoria. (Millie has Sharon’s mystery lock in quilt for this year, so no peeking on it.)

20120229-131943.jpg

Here’s what I took off earlier. It’s for a 13 year old.

20120229-132126.jpg

It has like a minky on the back. Soft!!

That’s what I’m working on. What about you? Anything fun?

Have a good day!

My students work

My friend Barb was one of my students last week. I stopped by her house today so she could show me what she did after class.

When she got home after class, she had 2 small wall hangings that were ready to be quilted, so she decided to quilt feathers on them.

This one has a continuous feather going through the background, crossing the quilt diagonally.

On this one she freehanded the feathered wreath, filling the square, and then running a continuous feather across the quilt through the triangle blocks.

I think she did a great job!!

Now back to work for me.
Have a great day!

Wholecloth quilt

Here’s what I did today. If you’ve read some of my previous posts, you know that I absolutely LOVE quilting feathers.
So today I quilted feathers! 🙂

20120210-160049.jpg

You may not think it’s all that cool, but I do…… I wasn’t sure how it was going to come out when I started quilting it. I think it took about an hour or so to quilt the whole thing. I did McTavishing behind the feathered hearts. Once again, I didn’t know how it would come out. I knew I didn’t want to rip any of the stitches out once I did them. I freehanded all of it. So I got what I got. As for the size of it…………….

Here it is……….

That’s it for now! Have a great day!
