Quilt #5 of the challenge.

Boy am I tuckered out today. Sharon and I went to The Booneslick trail quilt guild in Columbia Mo on Thursday and presented our Mystery program. Friday we hosted a 12 hour mystery class for them. What a great group of ladies! Everyone seemed to have a good time and several ladies went home with their quilt top completed. Thanks for having us! We had fun!

Anyway, today we headed home. Once I got my car unloaded and all my quilts refolded and put away, then pulled out all the quilts I need for a different program I’m giving on Tuesday in Marshall, Mo ………..I’m tired.😳  I almost forgot about posting a quilt today. I’m late but here it is.

The flowers are English paper pieced.

Ok well that’s it. I completed my 5 day quilt challenge. Yea!!!!

Hey, Vicky Beasley, I am nominating you to do the 5day quilt challenge now. 😀

Five day quilt challenge

I’ve been nominated by my friend Barb Eikmeier to show a quilt a day for 5 days. I guess I will start small. I’ve always admired whole cloth quilts. Starting with a blank piece of fabric and having the quilting bring it to life is awesome.

I quilted it a few years ago on my longarm. I have people ask me that when they see it, because it’s only about 6″ square.

I held the can beside it to help show it’s actual size. It was fun to make and maybe someday I’ll get around to making another whole cloth quilt, but until then I’ll just enjoy my mini!

Yvonne’s quilt

Sometimes it’s hard to decide just how to custom quilt a quilt. Since feathers are my favorite thing to do, I always look for places to put feathers first. I don’t always know what I will put in other areas or exactly  what kind of feather design I’ll use when I get started but as I start quilting and filling in the blocks, everything starts coming together. That’s how it was with Yvonne’s quilt.

The quilt is a medallion style, so  I knew I wanted feathers in the corners and around the center square. I love filling in the areas with freehand feathers.

The blocks got a continuous curve design and the rest of the spaces got filled in as I went.  The quilt is big so I couldn’t get a full shot of the whole thing.

I love it when everything falls into place. The quilt is currently on it’s way to Yvonne, so I hope she likes it.

Wednesday’s works

It’s a rainy day here in Kansas, but that’s ok because i am in my workroom getting as much done as i can! I’m almost finished with the quilt on this machine. I’m using one of my favorite pantagraph patterns on it.

I finished this custom one and just took it off the other machine.

I love when I can work feathers into them. 🙂

Meanwhile, over at the sewing machine, I sit down every once in a while and sew a few more strips for a strip quilt.

I have a class coming up at my LQS and need to get the info to them, so they’ll have it when people sign up. I also have a workshop next week that I’m teaching, so I need to make sure I have everything in line for it. And then there is my BIG project that I’m working on, which I haven’t mentioned. But I try to work on it a bit each day too. Somedays there just isn’t enough hours! LOL!!
Hope you’re having a productive day!!

What’s on the machines 2/20/13

Wednesdays are my days that I try to show what’s on the machines. Today almost got away from me before I remembered! LOL!!

I finished this one this evening on Viqtoria. It’s Bonnie Hunters scrappy Bargello pattern made by my friend Vicky.

This is the one on Millie. I have the center done and the pieced border is quilted. I’m going to add more feathers in the space around the center design. As you might know, I love feathers!! LOL!!
