What’s on the machines 11/14

Wow, I can’t believe that next week is Thanksgiving! That means Christmas is right around the corner! Ugh!!!

Anyway, I worked on piecing some of the miniature storm at sea yesterday, but today I need to get back to quilting. I’m putting a cute pumpkin panto on this quilt.

The quilt on Millie isn’t one that I can show, but I’ll let you have a peek at what I’m doing on the borders. 🙂

That’s it for now.

Have a good day!

My first Bernina

I’m so excited! I just picked up my very first Bernina! I ordered it while at Houston earlier this month. They shipped it to my local Bernina dealer and I picked it up today. I can hardly wait to start sewing!!!

I bought one of John Flynn’s precut miniature quilt packets while in Houston too. I figured I’d test out the machine by making it first. Let the sewing begin!!! 🙂

Design wall Monday 11/12

I know it takes me forever to get my own tops sewn together. The one on my design wall is slowly taking shape. I worked on sewing the scrappy squares a little bit this last week and yesterday I sewed the first 3 rows together. I enjoyed working on my patriotic quilt yesterday as it was Veterans day, here’s what I have so far.

Saturday I bought fabric for next years mystery Lock in quilt. I need to get started on it…….

I plan to use black as the background color.

Ok, I better get to work. I need to finish the quilt that’s on the machine today.

Design wall Monday 10/29

A while back I had some blocks that I needed to put together into a quilt top. I decided to use scraps for the sashings and borders. I like the way it came out.

20121029-211525.jpg

I’ve had these rows on the design wall now for several weeks. (I don’t spend much time piecing) anyway, now I’ve decided that I’m going to use scraps to make the quilt bigger. The rows were exchanged at my guild and each one is about 42 inches wide.
I am going to make a frame around each row so that all the rows are the same exact length. Then I will use 4 patches to make a row between each row. Here’s the idea.

20121029-212236.jpg

I got in my scraps and cut lots of 1 1/2″ strips. I use whatever size strips I have.
I then sewed them into sets.

20121029-212658.jpg

Then I cut them into 11/2′ pieces and make into 4 patches.

I still have a lot more 4 patches to make, but that’s a start……

That’s it for now.

What’s on the machines 9/26/12

First of all, I had a great time on the bus trip. Met lots of nice ladies and went to some great shops. I didn’t get pictures of all of them but here’s a few that we went to. Do you recognize any of them?

This ones on Millie.

It’s a sampler and I’m not sure what I’m going to do in the setting blocks, so I’m doing all the pieced blocks first. Decisions, decisions……….

Have a great day!

Bus trip

I finished this quilt tonight.

20120920-204343.jpg

I’ve been working on it for a while. I did the fall Patchwork party quilt for Quilters Quarters this week and after finishing, I got back to this one.

20120920-204626.jpg

I’m leaving early in the morning for a 3 day bus trip, so I wanted to get this one off of Millie before I left.

I’m looking forward to the bus trip. We are going to several quilt shops. It’s always a lot of fun!! I am the bus Mom, so I have games planned as well as movies to watch for those long periods of travel.

I guess I better go pack my clothes. I have all the fun stuff ready, but I guess I better take my nessesitores!

I’ll try to post pictures of some of our fun as we travel.

Have a good day!

What’s on the machines? 9/12/12

Another Wednesday! Here’s what going on in my part of the quilting world…..this one came off Viqtoria this morning. It has a simple panto with some roses and swirls on it.

20120912-134648.jpg

This one is on there now. It’s an easy quilt to make that uses yardage more than pieced blocks.

20120912-134906.jpg

You can’t see the quilting on most of the front, but you can on the back….. 🙂

20120912-135115.jpg

I’m getting close to be finished with all the background fill on this one. Then the black triangles in the borders. Whew! This is one big quilt.

20120912-135432.jpg

Speaking of big. The red and white quilt from last week was 108″x108″. For those that wanted to see more of it.

What’s on the machines?

Another Wednesday has rolled around. Time sure goes by fast!

I took this one off Viqtoria this morning.

20120829-140111.jpg

Now she’s busy quilting on another quilt. This one is a scrappy pink quilt. Pink is not my favorite color, but this is one pretty quilt, I think!

20120829-142739.jpg

I just finished loading a red and white quilt on Millie.

That’s what’s happening here…
Now back to work!
