Cardinals

We had a major snowstorm move through yesterday. As the snow fell throughout the day, I kept watching the cardinals at the feeder. The beautiful red males against the white snow…..at one time I counted 16 males and numerous females.
Today they are back at the feeder, battling the cold harsh wind that is blowing.

I can’t see the feeder from my workroom, but I can see the cardinals on this quilt top. So today it’s getting quilted!

That’s it for now! Stay warm and have a great day!

Design wall Monday 1/27/14

I have neglected my poor blog for awhile. Guess I need to get back to it, but I haven’t been able to post what I’ve been working on, so I’ll show what’s on my wall today. It’s been there for awhile and will probably be there for a lot longer as I’m working on the quilt for our annual lock in. This will take awhile to complete.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already December. Time flies!
I don’t have much on my wall this week. I started cutting out the blocks for my next quilt I want to make.

It looks rather boring at this stage, but wait till I get the blocks finished! I think it’s going to look great!! I hope so anyway. It looks good on paper! LOL!!

That’s it for my wall, I better get back to quilting. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Design wall Monday 11/18

this last week I managed to get my flying geese quilt quilted. The binding is on just need to turn it and sew it down.

I got the borders sewn onto my black and white quilt top

20131118-110207.jpg

I found strips from last years bus trip, in batiks, so now I’m sewing them like I did the black and white strips. I have a little different idea in how to do these. It will be similar but a bit different. So for now my wall has the few batik strips I’ve sewn so far on it.

That’s it for my wall this week. To see more walls, check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

After I finish the batik strip quilt, here’s what I plan to start playing with. I can hardly wait!!

Design wall Monday 10/7/13

My wall hasn’t changed in the last couple of weeks. I’ve been on the go quite a bit the last few weeks. Anyway, hopefully I can get back to sewing and quilting. Here’s my summer row by row that I showed a while back. I think the big white space in the upper corner needs something…….so I have a plan for the fabric hanging there.

I haven’t decided what to do for borders yet either, but I found this flip flop fabric in Florida last week, so I think it will get worked into the borders somewhere……

This is my last Monday of summer vacation. 😦 Summer break always goes too fast…. Oh well, it will be nice to see all my kids Wednesday!!
As for my design wall, I worked on getting some of the flip flops made for my row by row exchange. It takes more time to get these prepared than I thought it would, but they’re coming along. I have 10 sets made so far with 26 more to go!

I found a couple of black and white prints in my stash that I think I’ll use for the blocks.

A “blue” day…….

I like blue quilts. There’s just something soothing about them…..

I’ve also started cutting out flip flops for my row by row exchange. I realized last night after guild that They are due next month. Wow. Better get them done….or at least started!! 🙂

Visiting sewing rooms

Our guild meeting tonight took us out on the road. We broke into groups and went to see 4 of our members sewing rooms. They all had different ways of storing their stashes, threads, books, projects and setups. It was fun to see their rooms. Makes me want to organize my workspace better!!!

I quilted 4 donation quilts today that I was able to give back to Denise tonight. She’ll get the bindings on them so they can be given away at our November meeting. 3 are Clifford and one is Peanuts.

Guess that’s it for now.

Design wall Monday 8/5/13

I don’t actually have anything on my wall today, but I am working on picking out fabric for a Row by row exchange we are doing at my guild. The theme is Summer so I’ve decided that Flip Flops will be what I make for my row. I made a small wall hanging several years ago using the flip flop pattern from this magazine.

20130805-234139.jpg

For this exchange, I will need to make 6 sets of flip flops for each row. Here’s the fabrics I’ve picked out to use for them.

20130805-234410.jpg

I’m not sure what to use for the background yet……..

Meanwhile, I’m also working on a Bonnie Hunter scrappy Bargello pattern. I really need to use up some of my scraps! They are taking over!! I used this pattern on a lap quilt several years ago but this time I’m making the big one. Hopefully it will get rid of a few scraps!!
