What’s on the machine’s 2/13

I’m in the process of loading both machines, so I’ll show you what I’ve finished lately instead. How’s that? LOL.

Here’s Barb’s sampler quilt. It’s quilted with a feather panto pattern. The top has been hanging at Bits and Pieces in Eudora. It’s a BOM they’re doing. It will go back to hang in the shop as soon as Barb gets her binding done, but now it will be finished. 🙂

I think the feather design looks great on it.

Here’s the latest of the Christmas Peace quilts. I finished it yesterday. I did the first one back in October so that Windham fabrics could have it in their booth at Houston. Then I did 2 for Quilters Quarters and now this last one is going to Windham again. I guess this one will be traveling to Spain. The pattern is a block of the month and I believe it starts in May.

Design wall Monday 2/11/13

I was going through some of my old stuff last night and came across this one. Look at the date! LOL!!

20130211-104141.jpg

I made the January blocks…. All 4 of them! 🙂 I printed off each months pattern but never made any more blocks.

20130211-104504.jpg

I have enough of the fabric to make 8 more blocks, so I think I’ll just make 12 blocks, add a dark sashing and border, then call it done.

20130211-104841.jpg

It won’t be as pretty as the BOM, but after 14 years in a box……..done is better!! LOL!!!

That’s what’s on my wall today. To see more design walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Basket quilt

Ok now, everyone sing!

A tisket a tasket, a green and yellow basket. LOL!!!

I’ve been working on this basket quilt today and that crazy song has been stuck in my head!

Of course after quilting several rows, I changed the words to…..

A tisket a tasket, I’m tired of seeing BASKETS!! LOL!!!!

It’s good to see the end is in sight! 🙂

Design wall Monday 2/4/13

Another Monday rolls around. I have all the blocks made for the lock in mystery, but I can’t show them. I worked more on the blue jeans quilt yesterday. I had all the small blocks made so I sewed them into larger blocks.

20130204-115537.jpg

I made 16 of them. Then I cut fabric to cover the seams. I ironed some of them into 1/2″ strips.

20130204-115721.jpg

Here’s how the finished block will look.

20130204-115811.jpg

That’s what I have on my design wall this week. Actually, it’s on the table. LOL! 🙂 to see more design walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

I also quilted my blue stars quilt yesterday. Now for the binding…….

That’s it for now! Have a good one!

Love this fabric!

I found this at my LQS today and just had to have it!!

20130202-132109.jpg

I had to get some of the other fabric to go with it too!

20130202-132227.jpg

I don’t know what I’ll do with it yet, but that doesn’t matter. I’ll figure out something one of these days. 😉 maybe!!

At our quilt show this year, we’re going to have an antique sewing machine display. Here’s my hand crank.

20130202-132617.jpg

I need to figure out how to wind the bobbin so I can demo with it that day. My friend Doris has one too and she doesn’t know how the bobbin works either.

20130202-132825.jpg

Oh I just had a thought! Maybe I could get something made to hang in the display area with my new fabric?!?!?!

Gosh, I better get to work!! Have a good day!!!

What’s on the machine 1/30/13

I have so much that needs to be done that I never feel like I have the time to stop and blog. Today, I’m taking a break and blogging a bit about what’s going on…..

Millie has another Christmas Peace on her. This is a BOM that will be offered this year.

20130130-140610.jpg

I’m getting ready to load this on Viqtoria. Such a cute quilt!

20130130-140714.jpg

I haven’t worked any more on my guilds opportunity quilt but I have sewn all the blue jeans into blocks. 64 of them.

20130130-141001.jpg</a

Next step is to make strips to cover all the seams.

I’m sewing on my lock in quilt too, which needs to take priority as I have to have it finished by March 9th. Here’s a sneek peek at a bit of what I’ve sewn so far.

That’s what’s going on today.

Have a good one!

Design wall Monday 3/19/12

These blocks have been on the wall for awhile. With everything else I’ve been doing, it got put on the back burner. It’s time now to get back to it. I’m working on the sashing pieces and here’s how it’s looking.

20120319-091500.jpg

I do like it better with the dark color added into the sashing. The blocks alone were just too blah!!

Lock in mystery quilt

We had a great day yesterday at our annual mystery lock in. There were 58 ladies there sewing, chatting and eating!
Here is this years quilt. I named it “Summer Breeze”

20120311-161102.jpg

Here’s Sharon’s quilt. She changed hers just a bit, by putting the dark around the center square.

20120311-161315.jpg

We had lots of quilts shown that ladies made last year. Show and tell is always great!!

That’s it for now. Have a good day!!

UFO finished

I finished the binding on this quilt today, so I can mark it off my UFO list. Yea!!
That makes 3 UFO’s finished so far this year.

20120304-182244.jpg

I made this quilt as a BOM at my LQS. I decided to do the red one since I don’t have any red quilts. After making this one I remembered why I don’t own any red quilts………….I really can’t stand the color red!!
I planned on doing some pretty custom quilting on it, but I didn’t want to waste any more time on something that I don’t like, So it got a quick panto design. I am sooo glad it’s done!

It always feels good to finish a quilt. 🙂
Even though I named this one Fugly! LOL!!

My students work

My friend Barb was one of my students last week. I stopped by her house today so she could show me what she did after class.

When she got home after class, she had 2 small wall hangings that were ready to be quilted, so she decided to quilt feathers on them.

This one has a continuous feather going through the background, crossing the quilt diagonally.

20120227-133639.jpg

On this one she freehanded the feathered wreath, filling the square, and then running a continuous feather across the quilt through the triangle blocks.

20120227-134016.jpg

20120227-134056.jpg

I think she did a great job!!

Now back to work for me.
Have a great day!
