Design wall Monday12/9/13

Monday again? Already?? Wow……
I guess I did get a lot done last week. I finished bindings on 3 of my own quilts, quilted several customer quilts, got the borders sewn on a quilt top and pieced another quilt too. Whew! That’s a lot for me!!
Here’s the batik one that I got borders added onto. It’s now ready to quilt.

I am having so much fun playing around with strips of fabric, I decided to look for some fabric to cut into strips and I came across this pretty cardinal fabric that I bought years ago.

It was too pretty to cut into small pieces, so I never used it in anything. When I saw it last night…….. hmm…….I wonder if………

So I cut into it, added strips, and came up with this.

Another strip quilt. Less than 2 hours to cut it out and piece the top! I like that! It just needs borders now. I have plenty of the cardinal fabric, so I’ll add a wide border of it. Woohoo! Using my stash! And having fun doing it!

Anyway, that’s what’s on my design wall today. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

My squares from last weeks wall got taken down and put in boxes. This ones going to take awhile.

Lots of parts and pieces in it!

That’s it for me! Have a good week!

Thanksgiving day and my sisters quilt

This year I had my Mom and my sisters family come to my house for Thanksgiving dinner, there was 9 of us all together. We managed to sit all of us around the table too. That was nice. Anyway, after we ate, the guys headed in to watch football and my sister and I headed down to my quilt room. 🙂 She has been busy getting some of her rows sewn together from last years lock in mystery quilt, She brought it with her as she wanted to show me how it’s looking. We decided to hang them on my design wall.

She’s liking the way it’s looking and so am I!

That’s it for now. 🙂 hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!

Design wall Monday 11/25

I didn’t get much sewing done this last week and with this week being Thanksgiving, I may not get much done this week either. Anyway, my batik strips are still on the wall.

All that’s left is to add the borders. I found fabrics that I think will look good, now to get them on! 🙂

20131125-124943.jpg

I did finish several customer quilts last week, as well as my black and white strip quilt.

20131125-131754.jpg

I even did a pieced backing for it, so I could use up some more black and white fabric. 🙂 One of the fabrics is cats, so I ended up using a kitten panto for the quilting. Of course you can’t see it……..

Design wall Monday 11/4

I finished getting all the flying geese sewn together with sashing strips. Now all that’s left is to put a border on. I’m hoping to get that done this week sometime, but I need to focus on getting customer quilts done. For now the geese are hanging around on my wall.

I’m glad it’s done and I’m happy with the way it looks.

Design wall Monday 10/28

I actually got quite a bit of sewing done this last week. First off, I completed my EPP quilt too. I really like it in the bright colors.

My flying geese have taken over the wall now. I have all the rows sewn, now just need to get them sewn together with sashing strips.

Flying geese units done…

I got all 377 flying geese units made over the weekend. I use the no waste method and they go together really fast. Now I’m ready to start assembling them into a quilt top.

I need to use up some of my scraps so I am using scraps for all the FG. I can’t tell that I used any at all, but I did…..LOL!!

Anyway, I haven’t put them on the wall yet, but that’s what will go up. To see more walls check out http://www.patchworktimes.com

Scraps and treadle

Have you ever made a scrap quilt and not been happy with the finished look of it? I have! I never seem to have the right balance or something…..
Anyway, I’m going to make a scrap quilt, but I’m going to go about it differently than I have I the past. I never thought about the prints or colors or whether the fabric had a big print or was a tone or tone. I just used scraps and made it. Well……that might have been my problem….as my friend Vicky makes lots of scrap quilts and hers always look great!!!! Hmmm…..I think her secret is that she controls which scraps go into her quilts. Maybe that’s my problem!! I throw everything in there!!
Not this time though. I gathered up some scraps that have smaller prints and seem to look good together. So this is my starting point.

I’m going to make flying geese blocks with them. I hope! LOL!

The other thing is that at guild there’s a challenge to make a quilt using your treadle machine. Yep, I’m going to get the old treadle up and running. It worked great back in 2002, but I haven’t touched it since! I think I have a job ahead of me! LOL!
It’s an old 1800’s Wheeler and Wilson.

If someone finds a mind, please return it, I think I lost Mine!!! LOL!!
